Six exciting startups from six continents

There are numerous startups sprouting up everywhere. Here is a list of six exciting startups that are interesting, revolutionary and a wee bit quirky from around the world.

1. The Sun Exchange - South Africa

Hailing from South Africa, the Sun Exchange uses crowdfunding across Africa through bitcoin for financing solar projects.
This has increased transparency and reduced the costs of these projects. It recently raised USD 1.6 Million and was also the overall winner of the Blockchain Challenge in Dubai.

2.  Nubank – Brazil

Nubank is a revolutionary “no fee” credit card which provides a respite from the predatory fees of the banks. It has been successfully used for over 75 million purchases and recently its valuation crossed a valuation of 1 Billion USD.

3. Mush – UK

Known as the “Tinder for mums”, this app allows local connections among parents who can chat and make friends.
When searching for potential friends, this free app lets you see their photos, their interests and the age of their children. The filters on the app let you check for mums with children aged the exact same numbers of week as your toddler is.
It has seen strong growth in US, Canada and Australia. Moreover, it has raised £650,000.

4.  Tribe – Australia
Tribe is an online marketplace that serves as a meeting point for leading brands and content creators. It was launched in 2015 and has secured $5.35 million in Series A funding and is expanding globally. The founder had created this to help him manage his own time on brands for whom he worked with.

5.  Oyo – India

Founded in 2013, this Indian startup already operates in over 230 cities and recently secured a $250 Million series D round of funding which was led by Softbank. Oyo has over 8500 rooms and is known for providing cost effective, clean and standardized accommodation for travellers.
That's a double thumbs up from Your Sustainable Accountant.

6.  Hootsuite – Canada

Managing all social media accounts was a pain until solutions such as Hootsuite came along. It allows the easy integration of your Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Google+ and Youtube accounts through a dashboard. The company recently raised growth capital from CIBC to the tune of $50 million.

PS - The search for an exciting startup in the untapped market of Antartica continues.
